Gems Lab

Designing the label activation flow for the Gems Lab lost and found system.

I recently partnered with the cofounders of Gems Lab to design core features of their label activation flow enabling lost item recovery through QR code technology. As of March 2024, Gems stickers are live and can be purchased here.

Gems QR Code Stickers

Gems are QR stickers that attach to any object, helping finders identify and contact the owner. No app is required - just stick on the Gem, scan, and add your contact info.

My piece of the pie

Gems Sticker Activation Flow

Alongside the Gems Lab co-founders, I designed the key features of the label activation flow where a gem sticker owner can setup their recovery info and add it to their Gems inventory.

Activation Flow Overview

Step 1: Activate your label

Activate the label simply by scanning it with your phone's camera and entering the 2AUTH code sent to your phone.

Step 2: Add items to your Gems inventory.

Add your item information along with your preferred contact method; phone or email options available.

Step 3: Retrieve your item!

Not the most ideal situation, but in the event your item is lost, the finder can scan the Gems QR code and send a text to our phone number for retrieval.

The results

Gems Sticker Go Live!

In less than 60 days we’ve already sold all of our existing units and plan to order more inventory.

For next steps, we’re currently in the progress of re-designing the branding + label sheets, optimizing for a better physical UX (water proof, holographic borders, etc).

Thank you to Andrew and Bryan for this opportunity!
